Glass Group Supporting the Future of Women’s Rugby in Taranaki

Glass Group Limited has partnered with Taranaki Rugby to strengthen the Female Pathway and ensuring young wāhine across our region are able to create memorable experiences within rugby.

A key part within this pathway is the Kendra Cocksedge tournament for U16 wāhine. Kendra played her junior rugby for Coastal before going on to represent the Black Ferns 68 times. This tournament aims to provide opportunities and experiences for emerging female talent to follow in Kendra’s footsteps.

Glass Group is stepping up to support this pathway beginning with their backing of the 2025 Kendra Cocksedge Tournament. Held on Wednesday 20th August at Stadium Taranaki, the tournament brings together three Taranaki zones and gives under-16 girls the chance to be immersed in a competitive and supportive environment. It also serves as a key selection event for the Taranaki U16 side.

Glass Group is also backing the next level of the pathway by supporting both the Taranaki under-16 and 18 girls’ program as players continue to progress through the age groups. Both the Taranaki U16 and U18 sides will compete in the Northern Regions Tournament in September. Glass Group's support helps to provide these meaningful playing opportunities, ensuring the future of women’s rugby in Taranaki is strong.

Group Managing Director Simon Faull says, “I feel privileged to support Taranaki Rugby’s Female Pathway. Born and bred in Taranaki, I take real pride in giving back and supporting our local community. Taranaki consistently punches above its weight as a region, thanks to like-minded businesses and the countless hours of community volunteer support. Grassroots rugby in New Zealand is the foundation and the future of our national game.”

“Glass Group’s support is a vital part of helping players step from local rugby into regional and national levels" said Taranaki Rugby Pathways Manager Aaron Moore. "In recent years, many Central Roofing Taranaki Whio players have come through this pathway, something we take real pride in. That strength is clear with players like Hayley Coogan and Rosie Moffit recently involved in the New Zealand Under 18 North vs South Invitational, highlighting both the depth of talent and the opportunity that exists in our region.”

Glass Group Limited is a 100% New Zealand-owned and operated glass and glazing supplier, servicing the North and South Island. Known for their precision, quality and safety across residential and commercial projects, Glass Group is now bringing that same commitment to the grassroots, helping build not just structures but futures.

Taranaki Rugby is proud to have Glass Group by our side, backing the journey from inspired juniors to emerging representatives, and helping our wāhine take the next step toward their amber & black and black jersey dreams.
