More than 1,500 tickets have been snapped up within two weeks of the “Urenui Showdown presented by Firstgas” going on sale.

The event will see the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls play their final preseason match against Bay of Plenty at the Urenui Sportsground from 1pm on Friday August 2.

Taranaki Rugby are encouraging fans to get in quick for what is shaping up to be a sellout crowd of 3,000. General Admission tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids. Tickets can be purchased online via Ticketek by clicking HERE.

With support from Firstgas there will be plenty of exciting opportunities for young northern Taranaki children to immerse themselves in the carnival atmosphere leading into the big game.

Children from Ahititi, Uruti, Urenui, Mimi, Tikorangi and Huirangi schools will have the chance to train with the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls on the afternoon of Thursday August 1 and senior students will participate in rippa rugby at the Urenui Sportsground prior to the blockbuster clash.

In an exciting grassroots initiative, the local Urenui XV will go head-to-head with Tainui XV (Mokau district) at 3pm following the full-time whistle in the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls v Bay of Plenty clash.

Urenui and Tainui have contested the Rugby Shield since 1981 and traditionally play each other twice each year. Tainui are the current holders and have defended a string of challenges from Urenui in recent seasons.
