Grassroots rugby will take centre stage on the afternoon of Saturday 23 August as Clelands Club Day returns to a fully redeveloped Stadium Taranaki for the first time, celebrating the strength and spirit of the club game.
Thanks to the continued support of Clelands Construction, all Denis Wheeler Earthmoving junior registered club players (Ferdie 1 to Ferdie 8) will receive free entry to a special day of provincial rugby at Stadium Taranaki.
The Central Roofing Taranaki Whio and the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls will both take the field, with the Whio taking on Tasman at 11:35am, followed by the Bulls lining up for a Ranfurly Shield defence against Waikato. Kick-off in the Bulls game is at 2:05pm.
Yarrows Taranaki Bulls hooker Bradley Slater is fired up for Clelands Club Day with the Ranfurly Shield on the line against Waikato.
“Running out in my New Plymouth Old Boys socks is always a special moment – especially on Clelands Club Day. It’s a great way to honour where we’ve come from and the people who’ve helped us along the way. You see kids in their club colours across the stands, and it takes me back to when I was one of them. With the Shield up for grabs, we’re hoping for a packed house at Stadium Taranaki.”
To help bring clubs together and fill the stands with club colours, discounted $10 general admission adult tickets (normally $15) are available using each club’s unique code. These codes also contribute to the Clelands Club Day competition, with prizes on offer for the top three clubs based on adult ticket sales per registered junior player.
