All Blacks lock Scott Barrett has re-committed to the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls for a further three years.
The 26-year-old, who was named on the bench for the second Bledisloe Cup test after recovering from a long-term foot injury, has already signed on with New Zealand Rugby and Crusaders for the same period of time.
“While injury and representative commitments have stopped Scott appearing for the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls, we are always hopeful that will change in the future,” Taranaki Rugby chief executive Laurence Corlett said.
“Our rugby landscape continues to change, and we still do not know exactly what the calendar will look like in the future, so we are hopeful Scott will get to fulfil a long held desire to pull on the amber and black hoops at some point.”
Barrett, who was this year named captain of the champion Crusaders, would have played alongside brothers Beauden and Jordie this season had he not been recovering from foot surgery.
The former Francis Douglas Memorial College student will make his 37th test appearance for the All Blacks if he comes off the bench against Australia at Eden Park on Sunday.
He made his test debut against Ireland in 2016.
