Iconic Yarrows the Bakers extend as Taranaki Rugby Principal Partner

Manaia based Yarrows the Bakers have extended their relationship as the Principal Partner of Taranaki Rugby and the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls for a further three years.

Yarrows the Bakers and Taranaki Rugby first partnered together back in 1988. The two brands have shared in a number of memorable Taranaki Rugby moments over the past three decades including a clash with the British & Irish Lions (1993), Ranfurly Shield success (1996 & 2020) and an undefeated Bunnings NPC season (2021).

Taranaki Rugby Chief Executive Officer Mike Sandle said their partnership with Yarrows the Bakers fitted perfectly with the TRFU’s own values of striving for excellence.

“John, Rosaleen and Philip Yarrow and the Yarrows the Bakers team have been delivering quality bakery products to New Zealand and the world for the last 100 years. They are a family owned and operated brand that clearly strives for excellence and this is certainly something that Taranaki Rugby aim for both on the rugby field and with our community engagements.”

Philip Yarrow of Yarrows the Bakers was excited about Yarrows the Bakers extending their Principal Partnership with Taranaki Rugby.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the TRFU team for another three years. It has been a long partnership and we are looking forward to plenty more silverware.”

Taranaki Rugby Commercial Manager Jimmy Fastier said there is a rich history between Taranaki Rugby and Yarrows the Bakers.

“Yarrows the Bakers is an iconic Taranaki brand that lives and breathes amber and black rugby. We are thrilled to have them commit their support to the TRFU and we are looking forward to growing our partnership further to promote the proud Yarrows the Bakers name in Taranaki, New Zealand and around the globe.”

Yarrows the Bakers was founded in Manaia by Alfred and Grace Yarrow in 1923 and has expanded operations to Auckland, Rotorua and Tirau, producing frozen goods for supplying wholesale and food service customers across New Zealand, Australia and much of Asia including Hong Kong, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Yarrows the Bakers have been working with the world’s largest fast-food chain, Subway, for over 25 years supplying Subway with their sandwiches and cookies.

Taranaki Rugby and Yarrows the Bakers plan to deliver several exciting initiatives to commemorate Yarrows the Bakers 100 years of business with the local community later in the 2023 rugby season.
