Rugby Refereeing in Taranaki 
The Taranaki Rugby Referees Association meets every Tuesday night during the season. Meeting venues alternate on a fortnightly basis. Full membership meetings are held in Stratford and on the alternate week regional meetings are held in New Plymouth, Stratford & Hawera.
Meetings are structured to ensure Referees can participate in Lectures on the Laws of the game and also have time to discuss issues relevant to their own games. Referees are assigned to coaching groups and are viewed on a regular basis. Training days are held during the summer months to coach Referees in positioning and running lines.
Referee Appointments
Appointments are divided into two groups-afternoon & morning grades. All afternoon grades are handled by the Senior Appointments Officer where as the morning grades are handled by Appointment Officers within each region (North, Central & South).

TO ENSURE PLAYERS RECEIVE THE PROTECTION OF THE NZRFU INSURANCE COVER IT IS MANDATORY THAT AN OFFICIAL REFEREE OR AN ACCREDITED ASSOCIATE REFEREE IS APPOINTED TO GAMES.
Referee Recruitment
The Taranaki Rugby Referees Association is committed to the on-going Recruitment and Training of Referees. We believe that Refereeing offers an opportunity for anybody, regardless of sex or age to participate in the game of Rugby. It is a profession that will allow you to go as far as you like.
